Modesty by Lucretia Maria Davidson ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here's a poem for you. I found it while searching about modesty. Modesty is one of our fundamental values, even if it seems like our modern world needs us to search for continual recognition and fame. She was about 16 years old when she wrote that poem, in the 19th century. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "There is a sweet, tho' humble flower, Which grows in nature's wildest bed; It blossoms in the lonely bower, But withers 'neath the gazer's tread. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 'T is rear'd alone, far, far away From the wild noxious weeds of death, Around its brow the sunbeams play, The evening dew-drop is its wreath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 'T is Modesty; 't is nature's child; The loveliest, sweetest, meekest flower That ever blossom'd in the wild, Or trembled'neath the evening shower. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 'T is Modesty; so pure, so fair, That woman's witch'ries lovelier grow, When that sweet flower is blooming there, The brightest beauty of her brow." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fritillaria meleagris crafted out of tissue paper. #modesty #fritillariameleagris #paperpoetry #poetry
Life in transition Do you feel that energy of change all around us? ✨ I don't know about you, but we've been experiencing a time of massive changes over here. I can't stop telling to my close friends that I feel like a snake shedding its skin. ✨ You’ve heard the phrase “feeling comfortable in your own skin.”? Never is this more difficult when we are in a life transition and learning to take on a new identity. However, it’s important to know that being uncomfortable is not a sign that we are lost, powerless, or disconnected. ✨ The best example of this in the natural world is when a snake sheds its skin. During the shedding process, the snake is visibly uncomfortable and unproductive. It doesn’t eat; it is irritated and sluggish, devoting all of its energy to this one task of ridding the old to make room for the new. ✨ Why is the snake shedding? To grow into a larger, more capable and more evolved body and existence. While snakes do this physically, we as human beings metaphorically shed our own skin when it is time to grow personally, professionally, or spiritually. Many times this “shedding” occurs in a forced fashion, as in the case of an unwelcomed illness, financially trying times, or an unexpected loss. These times are particularly painful, yet may profoundly alter your experience and catapult you to a new spiritual plane. When we are shedding our old identity, we will often lack our typical energy, feel out of sorts, and perhaps be angry and confused. Only after we begin to wear our new skin, our new identity, will we have the clarity of vision to better understand the test and the growth that has occurred. ✨ For the ones experiencing such changes at the moment, know that you're not alone, we're there with you! ✨ Fritillaria meleagris crafted out of tissue paper. #timeforchange #fritillariameleagris #transition #paperpoetry
Guillaume Speaking ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Lesson from A Frog Tale : ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A group of frogs was hopping contentedly through the woods, going about their froggy business, when two of them fell into a bottomless pit. All of the other frogs gathered around the pit to see what could be done to help their companions. When they saw how deep the hole was, the rest of the dismayed group agreed that it was hopeless and told the two frogs in the pit that they should prepare themselves for their fate, because they were as good as dead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Unwilling to accept this terrible fate, the two frogs began to jump with all of their might. Some of the frogs shouted into the pit that it was hopeless and that the two frogs wouldn't be in that situation if they had been more careful, more obedient to the froggy rules and more responsible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The other frogs continued sorrowfully shouting that they should save their energy and give up since they were already as good as dead. The two frogs kept jumping as hard as they could and after several hours of desperate effort were quite weary. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally, one of the frogs took heed to the calls of his fellows. Spent and disheartened, he quietly resolved himself to his fate, lay down at the bottom of the pit and died as the others looked on in helpless grief. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The other frog continued to jump with every ounce of energy he had, although his body was wracked with pain and he was utterly exhausted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ His companions began a new, yelling for him to accept his fate, stop the pain, and die. The weary-frog jumped harder and harder and - wonder of wonders! Finally leaped so high that he sprang from the pit. Amazed, the other frogs celebrated his miraculous freedom, and then gathering around him asked, "Why did you continue jumping when we told you it was impossible?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reading their lips, the astonished frog explained to them that he was deaf and that when he saw their gestures and shouting, he thought they were cheering him on. What he had perceived as encouragement inspired him to try harder and to succeed against all odds. To follow in the comments.
Hortus Botanicus ✨ At the beginning of May, we've been visiting the Botanical garden in Amsterdam. It is one of the oldest in the world. It used to be an herb garden with medical plants for Amsterdam doctors and pharmacists. ✨ While walking through the flowery alleys, I noticed some small crimson dots in the long grass: the graceful nodding bells of Fritillaria Meleagris. I was touched by the way this flower is bent down towards the ground. It seemed to me like it was shy and insecure. I stayed a little while to take some photos and waited for Uma to join me with her dad, to show her that introverted nature's creation. ✨ Have you ever heard or saw this flower?( have a close look at the petals!) ✨ Fritillaria meleagris crafted out of tissue paper. #fritillariameleagris #snakesheadfritillary #hortusbotanicus #amsterdam #paperpoetry
Dreamer ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been reading somewhere that today is the international paper flower day, but now that I’m searching some information online about it, I can't find anything! ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Was I dreaming?! ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well, that won't be a great discovery: that I'm a dreamer I mean! " But I'm not the only one" as John sang. ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I wasn't a big dreamer, I would never have achieved half of the things I did in my life - from becoming a model, to an interior designer without any diploma, or a self-taught music composer and singer touring around the globe, or having my own brand and winning the silver trophy of the best startup of the year or working for Chanel! ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dreaming allow us to go in the directions we´re attracted to, without being overwhelmed with doubts and fears. ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do not misunderstand me, dreams need a lot of work and patience to come true. But don't close the door to your inner desires, go for it, make one with it and don't think too much! ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tissue paper roses for @sophie_ferjani #paperroses #dreamer #dreambig #paperpoetry
